A/Prof. Ali Bazargan

A/Prof. Bazargan is a Haematology Consultant at St Vincent’s Hospital. He has broad expertise across the field of benign and malignant haematology, with a special emphasis on clotting/bleeding disorders, lymphomas, myelodysplastic syndrome, myeloproliferative disorders and FBE abnormalities.

A/Prof. Bazargan obtained his MD degree in 1992 and carried out his basic & advanced physician and haematology training at Monash Medical Centre, St Vincent’s Hospital and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

He is actively involved in clinical trials in a wide range of haematological malignancies as principal investigator or associate investigator at St Vincent’s Public Hospital.

As a member of the Haematology Society of Australia & New Zealand, American Society of Haematology, Australasian Leukaemia & Lymphoma Group and European Haematology Association, A/Prof. Bazargan is committed to providing individualized clinical care for patients with blood disorders and is well known for his dedication and compassion in achieving the best possible outcome for his patients.

A/Prof. Bazargan holds public hospital appointments at St Vincent’s Hospital and private appointments at St Vincent’s Private and Epworth Richmond.

Prof. Constantine (Con) Tam

Professor Constantine (Con) Tam is the Director of Haematology at St Vincent’s Hospital, and Clinical Lead for CLL and Indolent Lymphoma at the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Center. He graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1998 completing his haematology training in Melbourne and at the MD Anderson Cancer Centre in USA. Dr Tam is internationally recognized for his expertise in blood cancers, especially in non-Hodgkin lymphoma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

Dr Tam believes that engaging in clinical trials is the best way for patients to get early access to the most promising new treatments for cancer. He is principal investigator on multiple local and international studies. Dr Tam publishes extensively in top-tiered international journals and is an editorial board member of the Leukemia & Lymphoma journal.

Dr Tam is committed to ensuring that Australian patients suffering from blood cancer receive the best treatment available anywhere in the world.

Prof. Hang Quach

Professor Hang Quach is a consultant clinical and laboratory Haematologist and Director of Haematology Clinical Trials at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. She is a graduate of the University of Melbourne. Prof Quach’s career in haematology is accentuated by her strong involvement in both clinical and laboratory research, which has resulted in many publications in high impact medical journals and attracted many peer-reviewed grants for research.

She is passionate about improving the standard of care for patients with blood cancers in Australia, not only through research, but also through her active roles on a number of national and international boards and committees, through which she has lead a number of published national treatment guidelines on blood disorders. Prof Quach is currently the co-chair of the Myeloma Disease Group Committee of the ALLG (Australian Lymphoma and Leukaemia Group). She also serves as a councillor of the Specialist Medical Review Council to the Australian Minister of Veterans’ Affairs and leads the development and update of the Australian National Treatment Guideline for Multiple Myeloma, as part of her role on the Myeloma Scientific Advisory Group (MSAG) for Myeloma Australia.

Prof Quach’s area of expertise is malignant haematological disorders in particular multiple myeloma, lymphoma, myeloproliferative diseases, myelodysplasia and leukaemia. Prof Quach is well known for her dedication and willingness to go to great lengths to achieve the optimal outcome for her patients.

Dr. ShuhYing Tan

Dr Tan is a dual-trained clinical and laboratory haematologist at St Vincent’s Hospital and Werribee Mercy Hospital. She graduated from the University of Melbourne, and completed her specialist training at the Alfred Hospital, Monash Medical Centre and St. Vincent’s Hospital.

Dr Tan has a major interest in malignant haematology, particularly in myelodysplastic syndromes and myeloproliferative neoplasms where she is currently completing PhD research investigating novel treatment in myelodysplastic syndromes. She has presented in national and international conferences, and published in peer-reviewed journals.In addition, she is the principal investigator and associate investigator on a number of clinical trials at St Vincent’s Hospital.

Dr Tan also consults on a wide range of benign and malignant blood disorders, including lymphoma, leukaemia, myeloma, thrombosis and bleeding disorders. She is compassionate and committed in providing the best personalised care for her patients.

Dr. Shirlene Sim

Dr Sim is a dual-trained clinical and laboratory haematologist. After graduating from The University of Melbourne, she went on to complete her basic physician and advanced haematology training at St Vincent’s Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Royal Melbourne Hospital.

She is currently involved in clinical trials and research at St Vincent’s Hospital. Dr Sim has a wide interest in both malignant and non-malignant haematology, and is highly dedicated to providing the best possible care to all her patients.

Dr. Jeremy Ong

Dr Jeremy Ong is a dual-trained clinical and laboratory haematologist. Graduating from The University of Melbourne, he completed physicians training at St Vincent's Hospital, before undertaking haematology advanced training at The Alfred and Monash Health.

Dr Ong has a keen interest in non-malignant blood conditions, particularly thrombosis, bleeding disorders and perioperative care. He also treats blood cancers including lymphoma, myeloma and myeloid disorders, and is an active investigator on clinical trials at St Vincent's Public Hospital. He has presented at national and international conferences, as well as published in peer-reviewed journals, allowing him to provide optimal evidence-based care for his patients.
